Cryolipolysis
Cryolipolysis. Also known as “fat freeing” or by the product name CoolSculpting is a scientific mechanism in which fat cells are tackled via exposure to cold temperatures, resulting in a reduction of body fat without damage to other tissues. The effect takes several months to be seen. It is a safe and reliable method which requires neither an operation nor anaesthetic.
Cryolipolysis has some similarities to liposuction, both procedures remove fat cells from the body but the Cryolipolysis causes metabolic processes to eliminate dead fat cells from the body and the liposuction uses a tube to suck fat cells out of the body.
During the procedure:
- A vacuum applicator is placed on the skin to bring it into cantact with cooling panels
- Patient has a cool sensation during the procedure
- The fat tissue is cooled for up to one hour
- Fat cells begin to crystallise at 4 degrees Celsius
The advantages of cryolipolysis
- No surgical incision
- No risk of infection
- No downtime
- A low risk procedure
- No need to be sedated or anesthetized
- No damage to nerve fibers, blood vessels, muscles
Side effects of Cryolipolysis
As with almost any medical treatment, there are side effects, such as numbing, bruising, a feeling of tenderness and temporary redness of the area treated. These side effects all naturally pass after a while.
